Fishing is one of the most popular forms of recreational activity, that are mostly enjoyed and loved by the people, all over the world, while others are doing such activity as their ways of earning a living that can provide them and their families in their daily lives. An act of trying to catch a fish is what fishing generally means, and the various techniques in such activity includes trapping, netting, spearing, hand gathering and angling. The term used by the fishermen that refers to the equipment and items that they are using in the act of fishing is tackle, and the most commonly used includes floats, rods, sinkers, baits, lures, reels, tackles boxes, waders, nets, gaffs, traps, lines and hooks. The various types of fishermen are called as artisanal, commercial and recreational, and mostly they are using various techniques for their fishing activity, wherein, artisanal fishermen are doing this for their survival, commercial fishermen to gain profit or income or as an occupation, and recreational fishermen for pleasure and sport.
Recreational fishing is similar to sport fishing, and it is done for pleasure or for competition, and basically, applications of laws, restrictions, conventions, rules and licensing are being used which can limit the practice of these fishermen of catching fish, and those are with the use of hooks, rods, baits or lures like artificial flies, reel, and line. Angling is the act of fishing with the use of hooks, and the fishermen are expected and required to return the fishes that they have caught to the water, such as in the sea, water or lake, and this act is called as catch and release. Another term for sport fishing is game fishing, and the acquired reward for such fishing activity is the challenge of finding and catching some of the most common species of fish, such as tarpon, shark, sailfish, mackerel, tuna and marlin. Fishing vessels is a water vessel which can be a type of boat or ship designed for fishing, and the common examples for these fishing vessels are rafts, pontoon boats, dinghies, cruising yachts, cabin cruisers, charter boat, kayaks and dugout canoes, and that are being used by the fishermen to catch the fishes in sea, lakes or rivers. One of the most commonly used fishing vessels for recreational fishing is the charter boat, which are being rented by the people or recreational fishers for exclusive or private usage, and it is commonly called as fishing charter.
